Airport transport

Perth Airport is located 17km from the city centre, and offers fast and affordable transport options to get you where you need to go once you land in Perth. With its convenient, central location, you can be in Perth's city centre in 15-20 minutes.

Airport train service

Providing a fast connection from Perth Airport, the new airport train line will get you to the Perth CBD in only 18 minutes!

Unlike many other cities around the world, there is no airport surcharge for this service. Fares are capped at just $5. You can buy a ticket at the Airport Central Station.

Trains operate every 12 minutes in peak time. During off-peak times, it operates every 15 minutes during the day and every 30 minutes at night. Download a copy of the Airport Line Timetable.

SmartRider Card

It is highly recommended you get a SmartRider card if you plan to use public transport in Perth. 

As an international student, you are eligible for a Tertiary SmartRider, on which you will be charged the concession fare - more than 50% off the standard fare! You can obtain this through your institution. Reach out to them for more information.

Taxi and rideshares

There are several major taxi companies that operate across Perth, including Swan Taxis, 13cabs and Black & White Cabs.

Taxi ranks are located at the front of all terminals – simply follow the signs to the nearest taxi ranks.

You can book a taxi in advance via phone or by using their app.

Popular ridesharing platforms are also available in Perth, including Uber and DiDi. Perth Airport has dedicated rideshare pick-up areas to service all terminals.

A $4 airport fee applies to all pick-ups at Perth Airport, for taxis and rideshare services.

Book an Airport Transfer

If you're arriving early in the morning or late at night, you might prefer to pre-book a private Airport Transfer Service for peace of mind. 

There are several companies in Perth offering private Airport Transfer Services, such as Perth Airport Shuttle, Perth Airport Transfers 365, and Airport Shuttle Perth. You could also use a company such as Welcome Pickups to schedule a private Airport Pickup.

Travel time: 20 minutes to Perth city centre
Cost: AUD $65 to AUD$100 on average

Getting picked up

Do you have a friend or relative in Perth who has offered to pick you up from the Airport?

There are pickup bays in front of each Terminal. To help keep traffic flowing, these bays are only available for immediate pick-up. 

If they arrive early, they can park and wait free-of-charge for up to 1 hour in any of the LongTerm & Regional car parks (excluding LongTerm Undercover and Regional Undercover). They can take a ticket upon entry and insert the same ticket at the exit within 1 hour. There's no need to validate the ticket. If they go over the 1 hour free parking, they'll be prompted to pay a parking fee at the gate upon exit.

If they need a little longer, they can park for up to 4 hours in the same carparks for only $10.
