Perth’s international student community now has a new dedicated space to meet, learn and connect following today’s official opening of StudyPerth’s Student Hub by the Hon David Templeman MLA, Minister for International Education, and Lord Mayor of the City of Perth, Basil Zempilas.

Located in the heart of Perth city – close to transport, retail, entertainment and cultural spaces and the future ECU City Campus – the Student Hub has been designed with a digital and wellbeing first approach to promote wellness, reduce homesickness and connect students with free employment, mental health and legal support.

International Education Minister David Templeman said the new facility would provide a wonderful place for students to relax and access free support services.

“I look forward to seeing the Hub bustling with activity as we welcome more and more international students to our magnificent state,” he said.

“StudyPerth works closely with the Western Australian Government through the Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation (JTSI) and education institutions to market Perth as a destination of choice for international students,” said StudyPerth CEO, Derryn Belford.

“During COVID-19 StudyPerth established the Student Hub concept to provide support and a central meeting place for international students who could not return home.”

“Now that Western Australia’s borders are open, the new Student Hub facility will continue to enhance the international student experience in Perth by connecting them to the wider international student community and the support services they need.

“We know that our international students – especially those who are new to Perth – are a long way from home and the support of family and friends.

“As an important first point of contact for international students, the Student Hub will continue to provide a welcoming, inclusive and fun environment, and much-needed interaction with other international students.

“The Hub’s new facilities and location, as part of the newly opened co-living Switch building, will also provide international students with better study, work and wellbeing facilities and services, enhancing their experience and advocacy for Perth as a study destination.”
