Hi, my name is Chanuli Randunu. I’m currently studying Psychology at The University of Western Australia and I moved to Perth from Sri Lanka just over a year ago!

For the first five months after coming here, I was lucky enough to have family friends that welcomed me into their home, making settling down here so much easier. After I was sufficiently ready to make it on my own, I moved out to live in student accommodation in the city. First, it was sharing an apartment with one other girl, afterward a share house of five uni students! Now I’m currently renting out an apartment in the city with my brother.

I remember hanging around at the StudyPerth Student Hub in the Perth CBD for as long as I can remember. In doing this I made contact with a number of ambassadors from the previous cohort and was really able to see them in their element helping out incoming students and hosting these amazing events that I always tried to attend. Becoming an Airport Greeter for StudyPerth further cemented my respect and admiration for the organisation and when I heard that the application round for this year's Ambassador program had opened, it seemed like a no-brainer to apply! Being a voice for other international students in need and further enriching their stay in WA became a passion I didn’t know existed within me. Safe to say, I’ve been having a great time here!

When it comes to downtime, Cottesloe Beach is a big favourite of mine! Sunbathing on the soft sand, swimming in the beautiful blue water and enjoying a creamy cone of chocolate gelato make the perfect Saturday afternoon in my books! If you’re not much of a swimmer you can always nestle up on the jetty with a book and have a quiet afternoon surrounded by the soothing hum of the beach all to yourself.

Hope you guys learnt a bit more about me from this! Always feel free to reach out if there’s anything I can help you out with.
