At StudyPerth, we recently held our International Student Careers Fair on Wednesday 16th October 2024 in partnership with SEEK, Tourism Western Australia, and North Metropolitan TAFE.
The event was hosted at North Metropolitan TAFE's East Perth campus, which was a fantastic venue that created an inviting atmosphere and encouraged conversations between students and employers, and we thank North Metropolitan TAFE for their support.
This event provided students with the opportunity to seek a casual or part-time role to earn while they learn, or to take the next step in their career with a full-time role after graduation, and was part of our commitment to bridging the gap between available opportunities and international talent in Perth, Western Australia.
We had more than 300 students through the doors, eager to explore the next step in their career in Perth. And with 20 employers from a range of industries, from hospitality and tourism to education and technology, we curated an invaluable platform for industry players and international students to connect.
We spoke with a few students who attended the event. Victor, who is studying a Bachelor of Biomedical Science in Pharmacology and Pathology shared his thoughts.
"This is a very good opportunity for us (international students) to find job openings available."
Lavleen, who is originally from Mumbai, India, shared "I was able to get some really good tips and tricks and motivation, which I really needed close to my graduation."
We also spoke with Winnie from New Delhi, India, a graduated student who studied a Master of Accounting, about the fantastic networking element of the event.
"I was able to find contacts - I added people on LinkedIn and met people to build my network in Perth."
Hiring international talent brings diverse perspectives that foster creativity and innovation, as well as unique problem-solving skills and a fresh outlook that can drive your business forward. Not to mention the strong motivation and loyalty that international employees bring to the table, enhancing team dynamics. For any business wanting to push the boundaries, it's truly a no-brainer.
We spoke with Jack from Two Feet & A Heartbeat, who shared that "having international students come in who want to do the best they can has a huge impact on employers."
We'd like to thank all of the students, employers, and members involved in making this event a true success. We are excited to see the bright futures and thriving careers that this event will ignite.
