Reflect Respect Celebrate Smoking Ceremony and Community Breakfast

Kickstart your Australia Day by joining in the Reflect Respect Celebrate ceremony, led by Whadjuk Noongar Elder Mr Barry Winmar. This cultural Smoking Ceremony is a beautiful tradition for healing and honoring the land, past, present, and future. For a small donation to charity, enjoy a BBQ breakfast served by the Rotary Club of Heirisson.

Birak Concert at the Supreme Court Gardens
Date: Sunday 26th January
Time: 3:00pm - 7:30pm
Location: Supreme Court Gardens, Perth
Birak [bi-rak] is the first summer of the traditional Noongar calendar. Known as the 'season of the young', it is marked by the hot and dry days of December and January.
Hosted by Aboriginal Shows and Productions, the annual Birak Concert celebrates the First Summer of the Noongar Seasons, and features an awesome lineup of activities and performances showcasing local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander talent. They've got a jam-packed program, including:
- Stage program - enjoy a spectacular lineup of WA's finest indigenous talent as they showcase their stories and culture through powerful performances.
- Community stalls - meet passionate creators offering Noongar arts, fashion, handcrafted homewares, jewellery, educational resources, and community services.
- Community art canvas - participate in this fun community project creating beautiful art!
- Inflatable rides - cool off on the inflatable water slide, or test your skills on the 23m Warrior Obstacle Course for an unforgettable adventure.
- Food trucks.
Hancock Prospecting Family Fun Day at Langley Park
Date: Sunday 26th January
Time: 3:00pm to 9:30pm
Location: Langley Park, Perth
Not far from the Birak Concert, head to Langley Park for a day filled with fun entertainment. Highlights include:
- Reflect Respect Celebrate Film Dome - experience inspiring short, educational films and enjoy giveaways and entertainment.
- Carnival rides - from the Dream Swinger to the Dodgem Drift, there's something for all levels of thrill-seeking.
- Freestyle Motocross & BMX stunt shows (3:00 - 6:45pm) - watch jaw-dropping stunts and crazy tricks from Australia's best extreme athletes.
- Learn to ride a bike (3:00 - 7:00pm) - learn the basics of bike riding on a fun, inflatable riding course (bicycles and helmets provided for all ages). Bike riding is an awesome, cost-effective way to get around Perth as a student, so if you want to learn, now's your chance!
- Skydive Display (6:50pm) - watch in awe as five skydivers make their descent onto Langley Park!
- Food trucks and Picnic Area for a relaxing break and delicious food.

Fireworks over the Swan River
Time: 8:30pm
Watch as the sky over the Swan River lights up in a stunning 30-minute fireworks and drone display. Grab a spot at Elizabeth Quay or head to the South Perth Foreshore for a great view.
Triple J Hottest 100 Countdown
Date: Saturday 25th January
Time: from 9:00am
Location: Tune into Triple J on the radio (99.3FM)
Don’t miss Australia’s biggest music countdown! Grab some friends and tune into Triple J to hear their annual countdown of the top 100 songs of the year, as voted by listeners!
FRINGE Festival
And of course, Perth's annual FRINGE Festival is on from 17 January to 16 February, with shows performed across 50 venues. From comedy to cabaret, musicals to circuses, there's bound to be something for you.
