In an Australian first, purpose-built accommodation for young generations of renters will open in metro cities across Australia from 2021, with Perth one of the first cities to launch.
The $500 million housing concept, called The Switch, will see innovative properties specially designed to suit the lifestyle needs of young renters accommodate a mix of students, young professionals, creatives, life learners, entrepreneurs and others at different life stages under one roof for the first time.
The Switch Perth Central will provide 483 beds – a mix of private studios through to five, four and two-bed shared apartments – and will conveniently be located at 555 Wellington St in the Perth CBD, only seconds from Raine Square, Yagan Square and main public transport links.
Basic services, full rental administration and a wide range of lifestyle options will be incorporated into The Switch's affordable packages, including:
- Classes, workshops and pop-up events hosted in communal spaces
- Speaker events featuring entrepreneurs and educators, health experts and local businesses
- Co-working spaces
- Rooftop bars and lounges, community gardens, and kitchens with convenient, locally sourced food and beverages
- Integrated mobile technology managing door locks, safety apps such as Sonder, bill payments, room bookings, 24/7 health and wellbeing services, parcel lockers and more.
The Switch will also be home to our new StudyPerth Student Hub, a dedicated place for international students to study, hang out with friends, meet new ones and access our free support services in the Perth CBD.
