Western Australia's border is now open and StudyPerth was on the ground at Perth Airport today to eagerly welcome international students!

It was a surreal moment to have StudyPerth's Airport Welcome Service reactivated after two years.

International students on both international and domestic flights were greeted by our Airport Welcome Greeters and gifted with a StudyPerth Welcome Pack, containing goodies such as an Optus Sim Card, Insider Guides Field Guide to Perth, Uni2Thrive Study Planner, water bottle, tote bag and card holder. Students also received travel vouchers from Tourism WA for tourism experiences around Perth.

"We are thrilled international students are now able to easily travel to Western Australia to start or resume their education journey," said Derryn Belford, CEO of StudyPerth.

"Our first two flights today included over 50 international students from Hong Kong, Singapore, India, China, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia and Italy – and a further few hundred students are expected to arrive in the next week."

"Today’s border opening coincides with the start of Semester 1, therefore our new international students need to hit the ground running straight away, acclimatising to a new city, home, education institution and friends.

"This can be a daunting experience for many so I encourage students to take advantage of the free support services available through StudyPerth, and register to attend our official International Student Welcome Day at our new Student Hub on Saturday, 19 March."

Arriving international students can find StudyPerth Airport Welcome Desks at the following locations at Perth Airport:

  • Terminal 1 – Arrivals Hall after G2G processing
  • Terminals 3/4 – Near Baggage Claim Carousel 1

Desks will operate for all incoming passenger flights from the following times:

  • Terminal 1 – Open from 12:05am Thursday 3 March and then for all incoming passenger flights
  • Terminal 3/4 – Open from 10:00am Thursday 3 March and then for all incoming passenger flights

This marks a very exciting new chapter and we are ecstatic to be welcoming even more international students to our beautiful state.
