Perth, Western Australia (WA) has been named host city for ICEF Australia New Zealand (ANZA) 2023 following today’s announcement by ICEF’s Vice President Rod Hearps.

One of the largest international education trade events in Australasia – the 16th annual ICEF ANZA 2023 will be held in Perth next April and will connect education providers from Australia and New Zealand with top international student recruitment agents from around the world.

StudyPerth’s Chief Executive Officer, Derryn Belford – who attended this year’s conference with 26 education providers from WA – said she was thrilled that the collective bid for the event by StudyPerth and its members, Business Events Perth and the Western Australian Government – will bring ICEF ANZA to Perth for the first time, including more than 300 highly qualified education agents from over 60 countries.

“A world-class education, travel, lifestyle and employment destination – Perth is Australia’s gateway to Asia, Africa, the Middle East and Europe – and is the ideal location for education providers and international student agents to meet, grow relationships and do business,” Ms Belford said.

“WA’s economy is the strongest in the country and as a result there’s high demand for skilled workers across all sectors, and plenty of jobs for international students and graduates. The skilled migration list now also has 331 occupations to choose from, following the addition of 194 new occupations by the WA Government, which is another great reason for international students to choose Western Australia as a study destination."

Held over three days, the ICEF ANZA conference includes one-on-one meetings between agents and education providers, seminars on the latest education market trends and issues, informal networking opportunities, and an agent familiarisations program.

“Prior to this year’s conference in Adelaide, StudyPerth hosted a pre-famil for 20 international education agents in Perth, which included on-campus meetings with education providers, learning about the range of jobs available for students and graduates and enjoying some of Perth’s unique city and nature-based experiences,” Ms Belford added.

“The feedback we’ve received from agents touring Perth and at the conference has been very positive in relation to WA’s high-quality courses, providers, facilities and the city, and we’re looking forward to showcasing WA to hundreds more agents next year as part of the official ICEF ANZA 2023 conference and famils program.

Perth has a long-standing relationship with the international education community. Pre COVID-19 the State welcomed more than 50,000 international students from more than 150 countries each year.
