Tell us a bit about yourself and what your story is. 

Hi, my name is Ratih, and I’m from Bali, Indonesia. I've always dreamed of living abroad, which led me to pursue my education overseas. Growing up, foreign movies deeply influenced me and sparked my interest in learning about other cultures. This passion eventually brought me to the vibrant city of Perth. 

What was your main reason(s) to select Perth as your study destination? 

I chose Perth because of its top-notch education system and renowned institutions like ECU. Its strategic location was also a big draw for me, making it an ideal place for studying and future career opportunities. 

Are there any other notable experiences you’d like to share from your time studying? 

A standout experience for me was being a Study Perth International Student Ambassador. This role helped me network with industry professionals and gain valuable insights into my field, which was incredibly enriching.  

Tell us about your experience since leaving ECU – how has your career progressed to date? Any professional achievements you’d like to share? 

After graduating from ECU, I started working as an IELTS Test Centre Coordinator, where I honed my leadership skills. Recently, I was thrilled to accept a position as a Duty Manager, which has been a fantastic step forward in my career.   

What are the top 3 skills you need as a Duty Manager?  

Leadership, problem-solving, communication.   

What have you enjoyed the most about living and studying in Perth?  

I’ve loved the welcoming community and the stunning natural surroundings of Perth. The perfect balance between city life and outdoor activities allowed me to explore beautiful beaches, parks, and cultural sites. The supportive academic environment also made my study experience truly enjoyable.  

What would you say to students thinking of coming to Perth to study? 

I would highly recommend it! Perth offers a unique blend of excellent educational opportunities and a high quality of life. Meeting people from all over the world has been incredibly enriching. Embrace all the opportunities Perth offers and make the most of your time here.  

 If you could tell your graduate self one piece of career advice, what would it be and why? 

Stay open to new opportunities, and never stop learning. The job market is always evolving, so being adaptable and continuously updating your skills will keep you relevant and ready for new challenges. Networking and seeking mentorship can provide valuable insights and open doors to unexpected career paths.
