Innovation Fund - Funding Categories

The Innovation Fund is divided into two grant categories.

Projects must be collaborative and inclusive, and led by a StudyPerth Education or Associate Member organisation.

Category 2 - Individual Projects up to $5,000 (+GST)

Applications are open to individual Education or Associate Members; there is no requirement for the project to be collaborative.

Category 1 projects must be led by a StudyPerth Member organisation and should benefit multiple Members. Sometimes delivery partners for a project won't be Members, but where possible Members should be prioritised.

Category 2 projects are only eligible to StudyPerth Member organisations. Sometimes delivery partners for a project won't be Members, but where possible Members should be prioritised.

Collaborative projects must have two or more StudyPerth Members as project partners. Projects with a larger number of Members benefiting will be prioritised.

You can apply for a project up to $5,000 collaboratively, although collaboration is not required for this category.

Category 1 applications must meet the primary objective.

Category 2 applications must meet at least one of the primary or additional objectives.

Applicants must read the guidelines and complete the application form relevant to the financial year in which you are seeking a grant. These can be downloaded from the website.

The Innovation Fund Program funding amounts are:

  • Category 1 - Collaborative Projects up to $40,000 (+GST)
  • Category 2 - Individual Projects up to $5,000 (+GST)

Lesser funding amounts can be requested.

There is no requirement for applicants to match financial contributions to the project; the funding grant can cover the full cost of the project. However, a budget is required as part of the application process that indicates any in-kind and financial contribution. This provides the total project value.

Any unspent Program grant funds must be declared as part of the reporting and acquittal process within 21 days of project completion. All unspent funds must be returned to StudyPerth unless otherwise agreed to prior to the project completion date with StudyPerth. An invoice will be issued to return the unspent funds.

Feedback on unsuccessful applications will be provided. Unsuccessful applicants can reapply.

Organisations can submit multiple applications for separate projects and/or projects represented by different departments within one organisation.

Applicants must use the Application Form, Budget Plan, and Risk Plan provided to be eligible. Applicants must submit all necessary documents to be eligible.
