Student Story: Nguyễn Minh Tuyến (Vietnam)Student Story: Nguyễn Minh Tuyến (Vietnam)

Graduate: Bachelor of Business, Commerce and Marketing at Murdoch University My name is Nguyễn Minh Tuyến (Jimmy) and I graduated from Murdoch University after studying Business and Commerce in Marketing. I am currently completing an internship at Phoenix Academy as a Marketing Officer.

I arrived in Perth five years ago, specifically to study at Murdoch University as I considered it to be the most suitable place to study my preferred course, marketing. I also done some research about Murdoch University and I found out that it ranked in the top 100 universities under the age of 50, was in the top 70 most international universities in the world, and had a 5-star staff-to-student ratio.

I would say Murdoch University gave me a great opportunity to study and explore my potential during my uni life. I had chance to approach practical teaching methods, develop critical thinking, experience modern study facilities and learn from the best teachers.

When I'm not working, I spend time going to the gym and playing sports with my friends. We also go to the beach because Perth has a some of the most beautiful beaches in the world like Hillarys, Cottesloe, Fremantle.

I really love the lifestyle in Perth. There are night food markets pretty often during summer where you can explore lots of traditional food from around the world. Also, you can enjoy the big screen outdoor cinema with lots of friendly local and international people. Most activities and events in Perth are affordable or even free.

Perth is also a student-friendly city with a low cost of living. For example, accommodation costs roughly start from $100 to $180 per week depending on where you live and which room you renting. In some cases that would include all utilities which means no extra pay. There are also significant discounts on all public transport for international students. Some buses run around the city for free! Finally, basic grocery shopping for one adult would be roughly $50-$70 per week.

Besides entertainment, Perth is also developing a great study service for international students through the modern and convenient State Library, hi-tech study tools and up-to-date knowledge provided in universities to ensure students can experience professional study environments.

Studying in Perth has changed my life because I am confident in myself when I speak English now, I have made new friends from around the world, experienced several teaching methods and gained the best academic learnings from teachers. I have found my value and followed my dream.
