As part of StudyPerth's Student Engagement and Support Grant Program, sixty out of one hundred applications – representing a cross-section of education and training providers, student and community groups, and local government and non-for-profit organisations – have been approved for funding.
One of the projects, in particular, was the Edith Cowan University Hospitality Workplace Training at Joondalup Resort – a 2-week workplace program at any Joondalup Resort for international students to work across key hotel departments to gain in-depth knowledge about hotel operations. After their training, students planned, managed and executed a dinner operation for 50 delegates at their closing ceremony to showcase their learning.
On behalf of StudyPerth, our Student Success Manager Ryan Whiddett attended the event along with a few of our new 2021/22 International Student Ambassadors. We thank Dr Edmund Goh and his team for their glowing words.
I would like to thank StudyPerth for believing in our vision and approving our grant to “Integrate university hospitality international students into the workforce, local community, and businesses through applied learning working experience in hotels”. The students will always be grateful for this opportunity to help immerse and jumpstart their hospitality career.
As part of the applied learning program, these students have gained work experience across Front Office, Housekeeping, and Food & Beverage to gain in-depth knowledge about hotel operations. This training is fundamental in helping students to get jobs, which adds to the skilled talent pool and drives the local and national economy.
It was great to meet some of the StudyPerth ambassadors, who are full of energy and passion. Thank you for all the great things you have done for the international students. You are the heartbeat of the international student community. The international student community has benefited immensely and achieved significant progress under your leadership. Thank you for being so supportive towards my initiatives and being a role model for the hospitality students.
We look forward to future collaborations with StudyPerth.
