Christmas lights are an absolute essential when celebrating the holiday in Perth. We are here to give you a breakdown of the best Christmas lights throughout Perth, from the suburbs to the city.
Each year, the City of Perth creates a Christmas Light Trail which includes entertainment and stalls. The trail will take you through the heart of the CBD, Northbridge, and East Perth - it is the perfect way to explore the city at night.
Be sure to download the map before you go so that you don’t miss anything! All the displays are easy to get to and are free to visit.
North of the Swan River
Samson Court, Duncraig: The whole street of Samson Court gets lit up each and every year for Christmas, and boy is it worth the trip! They have their lights synchronised to music so there is always a show to wait around for. Best of all, they pick a cause to fundraise for and raise thousands of dollars each year.
6 Heron Close, Ballajura: This house has everything from a reindeer stable to a ferris wheel, and also contains a special Aussie twist! Alongside the traditional penguins and reindeers can be found some Christmas snakes, crocodiles, and lizards.
2 Sherlock Rise, Carramar: This house is converted into Santa’s Grotto where you may even find Santa himself making an appearance. There are also Sensory Santa events available for people with special needs.
Prairie Dunes, Connolly: This is another street where everyone decorates their house to make sure you are surrounded by Christmas spirit! They usually raise money for training guide dogs, so it is not uncommon to see the dogs walking along the street.
South of the Swan River
8 Meadow Springs Drive, Meadow Springs: As winners of the 2017 Synergy Xmas Lights Trail People’s Choice Award, this house is a must-see. The entire house is decorated with a different theme in each room; last year, they had over 400 Christmas trees.
8 Old Brickworks Road, Byford: If you have ever wanted to see a Christmas theme park, this is the house for you! In 2018, the house was lit up by the ferris wheel and bumper cars. Unfortunately the rides are not for humans but they are incredibly impressive nonetheless.
267 Lyon Road, Aubin Grove: This house is recognised as one of the top 10 houses to visit in Perth each year! They have events on the weekends where you can find bouncy castles, snow cones, fairy floss, and pony rides. Each year, they raise funds for sick children.
If you are a bit further outside of Perth, you absolutely can’t miss the Mandurah Canal lights. Each year, there are cruises that take you along the canal in Mandurah to see the Christmas lights from the water as they are unable to be seen from the road.
Still feel like you haven’t seen enough Christmas lights? Be sure to check out the Synergy Xmas Light Trail and vote on your favourite house!
