Get Out And About With Campus Perth

Last week, we at StudyPerth visited the uber-cool accommodation at Campus Perth, situated at 80 Stirling Street, right in the heart of downtown Perth.

There we were given a tour of the great space and facilities - which include everything from a fully spec gym and yoga studio, kitchens, study areas with the beautiful Perth skyline in the background, and so many nooks and crannies that give everyone the opportunity to get out of their super comfortable and luxurious rooms and mingle about with your fellow students.

General Manager Bram Newbold, took time to explain the community philosophy behind Campus Perth, which prioritise:

  • students enjoying their living spaces by getting to know each other and making good friends - because as we know, good friends make the world go around!
  • students enhancing their career opportunities through many fun, volunteer opportunities from becoming residential assistants and organising events through to free seminars of how to get a job.But wait, there’s more! Campus Perth also work hard to identify opportunities for casual employment for their residents, and even better, offering food vans for you to embark your foodie entrepeneurship.

Bram kindly took some time to sit down and talk to us more about Campus Perth and letting us know what exciting things are in the pipeline at the venue that we think you might want to know about.

StudyPerth: Thanks Bram for taking the time to chat to us about all things Campus Perth. Can you start by letting us know a little history about Campus Perth?

Bram:

Campus Perth is the new wave of student accommodation in Perth City with shared and private accommodation that options are energetic places to live. Combining state-of-the-art facilities with a unique design to provide students with an unrivalled living experience, Campus co-living hub inspiration is drawn from three key aspects: Design, functionality and technology.

Campus Perth represents a re-adaptive use of the former iconic Telstra Service building located at 80 Stirling Street, and is the first off-Campus Purpose Built Student Accommodation provision in Perth. We opened on the 7th January 2019 with 726 beds available for both international and domestic students from all walks of life.

StudyPerth: There are over 200 students currently at Campus Perth - what do they say are some of the things they love most about living here?

Bram:

It’s only been a month, but already our students are seeing the benefits of life at Campus – “it’s vibrant, fun and full of life.” Our residents love our city centre living concept and have convenient and quick access to all modes of public transport. Campus Perth is about building a community, and has been designed to seamlessly integrate spaces for students to live, socialise, study, learn and collaborate across eleven floors. With over 3,600sqm of communal space, FREE wifi and more inclusions, Campus Perth gives empowers students to live independently, whilst being part of a wider, like-minded social, academic and safe community. “The gym and fitness studio are pretty cool too!”

StudyPerth: Community is an important aspect of Campus Perth and as we mentioned beforehand, you and your team do an amazing job of making sure students feel comfortable and love where they live. Can you tell us some of the successful and upcoming initiatives that Campus Perth has delivered and is planning, respectively?

Bram:

Crucial to our success and active engagement of all student residents at Campus Perth, is our resident lifestyle program, which aims to deliver in excess of 300 social, fun, interactive, informative and inspirational events and activities in our first year of operation! We see these events as an opportunity to not only get to know our residents just better, but to also engage their feedback and seek direction to drive the program itself. Already, we have held a laneway pancake breakfast took students to Rottnest Island, put on movie nights, yoga classes, watched the Super Bowl up on the Campus big screen, celebrated the Chinese New Year and job searching seminars.

StudyPerth: What are some of the exciting things coming up for residents and also open to other students thinking about choosing their accommodation while studying and living in Perth?

Bram:

Looking ahead, we will celebrate International Woman’s Day, cooking classes, Perth city walking tour, private pilates classes, resume coaching and self-defence classes. At Campus Perth, student welfare and lifestyle experience remain top of mind, always!
