Launch of the WA International Education Strategy 2018-2025

StudyPerth has warmly welcomed the delivery of the Where Bright Futures Begin: International Education in Perth, Western Australia 2018-2025 strategy, launched this morning by Premier Mark McGowan.

The strategy, which was developed in conjunction with StudyPerth, sets out to position Western Australia and its capital Perth as a world class international education city, and help the city open its doors to increasing numbers of international students from around the world, and particularly Asia.

Separated into three distinct sections, the strategy highlights the engaging and supportive learning experiences and environments on offer in Perth, making it a perfect place for students to live, learn and launch.

In his address, the Premier acknowledged international education as a priority for his government, and committed $2 million over five years to support the effective implementation of the strategy.

StudyPerth Chair Rod Jones said collaboration and cooperation were the keys to success with this strategy, which outlined a goal of increasing the number of international students in Perth to 100,000 by 2025.

“The successful and sustainable achievement of this goal will require us to harness the specialist resources and expertise of all our member organisations – working collaboratively to create a better future for all students, all StudyPerth members and the local community,” he said.

“With the State Government’s support, and the participation of our members, StudyPerth is ready, willing and able to meet the challenge.”

The strategy builds on the recent introduction of a new Graduate Skilled Migration List to attract the best and brightest international to live and work in WA.
