How many hours can I work?

If you are on a student visa (a full-time international student), you will have the opportunity to work part-time for up to 40 hours per fortnight (2-week period), and unlimited hours during semester break.

Your work Rights

As an International Student taking up part time work while you are studying, you have the same work rights as any Australian citizen to a safe and fair workplace.

The Fairwork Ombusdman is a department of the Australian Government who can help you understand your rights as an employee in regards to your wage, work breaks, leave and ending employment, as well as providing information about your employer’s responsibilities under Australian workplace laws. They also offer services to work with you to resolve any workplace issues which may arise.
